Experience the magic of Raku firing! Bring your date, friends or family (Age 21+) out for an exhilarating experience to our outdoor "ceramic studio". We provide everything: (Except your favorite beverage ...BYOB!) Entertaining instructors, all tools and materials necessary to create a beautiful finished artwork with your partner. This is a very interactive class that does involve light physical activity. If this sounds like your idea of a great experience, we promise you an evening to remember. No experience is necessary!!
Students will have the opportunity to use different resist materials to create a unique look, before glazing their pot or vase with a japanese raku glaze. Participants will witness their red hot pots being taken from the raku kiln. The pots and vases are then placed into the reduction chamber with combustibles, which we have previously prepared together. Once the magnificent artworks are cooled off, they will be ready to go home with you.
Please wear natural fiber clothing, closed toed shoes and long hair pulled back as we are working close to open flames during this class!
