This five-session immersive youth blacksmithing program is for young aspiring blacksmiths aged 12 to 17. Students will gain strong fundamentals in blacksmithing with traditional forging techniques. They will learn to forge with confidence while completing projects independently, guided by hands-on instruction. The course will cover safety in a metal workshop, history, basic metallurgy, and proper hammer technique. With the skills learned, students will taper, scroll, punch, and twist hot metal into functional and decorative shapes. Each student will have the opportunity to complete multiple projects throughout the program. Additional time for fit and finish of the final project might be added during open studio hours (Tuesday and Thursday evenings, 6-9 PM) at no extra cost to participants. No prior experience is necessary.
Students who have taken the intro level with us, may also register and continue at the intermediate or advanced level.

Our workshops and day-camp groups have always been intentionally small! Our new policy has reduced the number of participants even further, allowing for more space and even more personal attention to each student! Please note, we work with open flames and power tools during this camp.
Non-flammable clothing (No nylon or Polyester!) and closed-toed shoes are an essential requirement!
