This 2-day course (Saturday & Sunday - July 15 & 16, 4 PM - 9 PM both days) is an intermediate level course involving a significant amount of hand forging designed for students with a moderate amount of forging experience and an interest in making hand forged high performance knife blades. Topics: - Safety & equipment - Blade function and design - Selection of steel - Forging, hammer technique -Metallurgy - Heat treating - Grinding, polishing, finishing - Preparing the handle. All students will gain a deeper understanding of blade-forging techniques, heat treating and grinding a high carbon steel blade and have hands-on experience finishing their own knife with expert instruction.
If you don't have prior forging experience our Introduction to Blacksmithing Class is a required prerequisite.

Additional time will be added during regular open forge hours for fit & finish. Tuesday and/or Thursday 6-9 PM
