This hands on class covers non-functional ceramics and ways to use clay to create sculptures. Students create freestanding, handmade pieces using sculptural techniques, including coil building, form molding, carving and work with simple clay forms. You will consider volume, weight, color, form, and texture while creating contemporary pieces.
The class includes 3 hours of hands on instruction, complimentary glazing by the studio and both firings.
Small group 3-6 students max.
All tools and materials will be provided!
No prior experience is necessary!
This workshop is NOT ONLY suitable for beginners, but also welcomes the intermediate students and those needing a refresher on the basics.
Ceramics made will be available for pickup at the studio once the two firings are complete, approximately 3-4 weeks after the initial workshop. Glazing is complimentary if we do it for you. If you'd like to learn how to glaze, a glazing pass is available for $15. Glazing sessions are 2.5 hour long and offered on Thursday evenings 6:30-9PM - You must reserve your spot in advance! Due to limited space in our studio, any ceramics left unglazed after 2 weeks will be glazed for you. Your ceramic creations must be picked up within 60 days of the workshop or they will be donated to a local charity.
