This 2-day course (Saturday & Sunday - March 4 & 5, 12 PM - 5 PM both days) is an intermediate level course involving a significant amount of hand forging designed for students with a moderate amount of forging experience and an interest in making hand forged high performance knife blades. Topics: - Safety & equipment - Blade function and design - Selection of steel - Forging, hammer technique -Metallurgy - Heat treating - Grinding, polishing, finishing - Preparing the handle. All students will gain a deeper understanding of blade-forging techniques, heat treating and grinding a high carbon steel blade and have hands-on experience finishing their own knife with expert instruction.
If you don't have prior forging experience our Introduction to Blacksmithing Class is a required prerequisite.
March 4 & 5, Saturday & Sunday 12 PM - 5 PM
Additional time will be added during regular open forge hours for fit & finish. Tuesday and/or Thursday 6-9 PM
Our workshops and courses have always been intentionally small! Our new policy reduced the number of participants even lower which allows for more space and even more personal attention to each student!
