This 5-day immersive youth blacksmith program is for young aspiring blacksmiths ages 12-17. Students will gain strong fundamental skills in blacksmithing with traditional forging techniques. They will learn to forge with confidence as they complete projects independently, guided by hands-on instruction. The course will also cover safety in a metal workshop, history, basic metallurgy, and proper hammer technique. With the skills learned, students will taper, scroll, punch, and twist hot metal into functional and decorative shapes. Each student will have the opportunity to complete multiple projects throughout the program. Additional time for the final project’s fit and finish might be added during open studio hours (Tuesday and Thursday evenings, 6-9 PM) at no extra cost to participants. No prior experience is necessary!

Our workshops and day-camp groups have always been intentionally small! Our new policy reduced the number of participants further, allowing for more space and even more personal attention for each student. Please note we work with open flames and power tools during this camp. Non-flammable clothing and closed-toe shoes are essential requirements!
