Service Description

This 5-day long immersive youth blacksmithing program is for the young aspiring blacksmith ages 12 to 17. Students will gain strong fundamentals in blacksmithing with traditional forging techniques. They will learn to forge with confidence, while completing projects independently with hands on instruction. The course will also cover safety in a metal workshop, history, basic metallurgy, and proper hammer-technique. With the skills learned, students will taper, scroll, punch and twist hot metal into functional and decorative shapes. Each student will have the opportunity to complete multiple projects throughout the program. Additional time for fit and finish of the final project might be added during open studio hours (Tuesday and Thursday evenings 6-9PM) at no additional cost to participants. No prior experience is necessary! July 21 - 25, 2025 , Monday to Friday 10 AM to 1 PM Hours in the program: 15 Cost: $499/student Intermediate and Advanced students may also register for this week. Advanced students please reach out to discuss your independent projects! Our workshops and day-camp groups have always been intentionally small! Our new policy reduced the number of participants even lower, which allows for more space and even more personal attention to each student! Please note, we work with open flames and power tools during this camp. Non-flammable clothing (No nylon or Polyester!) and closed toed shoes are an essential requirement!
