Service Description

You always wanted to forge glowing hot steel? Here is your chance! Step outside your comfort zone and let the fun begin! Take our 5 our introducton to blacksmithing workshop.This comprehensive beginners’ class is the prerequisite to all intermediate workshops we offer, including our beginner- bladesmithing courses!! During this workshop we will teach you fundamental blacksmithing skills. You will learn about safety in a metal workshop, basic metallurgy, proper hammer-technique and 5 of the 9 traditional forging techniques . (The remaining 4 techniques are covered in our traditional joinery course) With these skills you will taper, scroll and twist glowing hot metal into a decorative and useful hook. But don’t let the simple appearing project fool you! It will challenge you in ways you didn’t imagine possible and at the same time it will teach you all you need to prepare you for more advanced projects in the future. 6-8 students max. Cancellation Policy

Please read and understand! As a small organization we must abide by the following policies in order to be here to serve you and future generations. Our classes, workshops, courses and camps (programs) are available to anyone. No membership is required. For intermediate and advanced programs please check for the published prerequisites. Registrations are NON-REFUNDABLE! If you cancel at least 7 days prior to your scheduled program you will receive a full CREDIT for a future program. Cancellations within 7 days will receive a 50% CREDIT for a future program. We offer a one time reschedule as long as it’s requested at least 72 hours prior to starting of the program you originally registered for. Additional reschedule requests (regardless of the timing) or cancellations within the 72 hour window will count as a last minute cancellation and NO credit will be issued. If you have multiple students registered in the same booking (same class/same date/shared booking) It’s your responsibility to advise us on the details for each student involved. Last-minute cancellations present a financial hardship for The Guild, so we ask that you please communicate with as much notice as possible if your plans are disrupted. Please call or e-mail us for assistance if you need to cancel or reschedule. Thank you for your understanding! MISSED CLASSES The Guild staff always does its best to accommodate all students. The Guild is NOT responsible for providing students with make-up classes when a student has missed a class for any reason not the fault of the faculty or the Guild. There are no refunds or make-ups for missed classes. THERE IS NO PRORATING COURSE CHANGES/CANCELLED COURSES The Guild reserves the right to substitute instructors for any of its classes at any point in any term and to change its calendar, withdraw or modify a course at any time. Programs canceled due to inclement weather will be rescheduled according to teacher & studio availability. Students enrolled in courses which are cancelled by the Guild will receive a full refund. In the event that a program is canceled, every effort will be made to notify students as quickly as possible. If we do not have minimum participation, we will notify registered students by phone and e-mail within 48 hours of start of workshop. SAFETY & LIABILITY While the student can be assured that every reasonable safety precaution will be followed, the Guild, Urban Craft and Folk Art School and our parent company Dark Angel Armory & Forge will not assume liability for injuries that occur within the scope of the subject area for which the student is enrolled. By completing registration online or in person for any course, the student agrees to assume all reasonable liability from injuries related to the scope of the work being taught and releases the organization from any liability claims related to any injuries and/or accidents that may occur. PHOTOGRAPHY Please be aware that you may be photographed or filmed for publicity and marketing purposes. If there is a privacy request, please contact the Director prior to your program starting. WAIVERS Upon entering our premises each student (or parent/guardian in case of a minor student) will be required to read and sign our waiver and release document. This document is also available on our website for your review and it contains the following: - Waiver of Liability and Release - COVID-19 Disclosure and Health Declaration - Photo and Video Release YOUTH DAY-CAMP POLICIES • Please note that NO supervision of children is provided before 8:30 am • Out of consideration of safety of your child, curbside drop-off or pick-up is NOT allowed. A parent or caregiver must sign them in and out. • On day-one of a Camp, parents must be present during the 15 minutes safety briefing. Parents are welcome to stay longer and take pictures of their child during activities if preferred. • We ask that you arrive promptly in the Studio for pick-up. • Morning programs ends at 12:00 Noon. • Afternoon programs ends at 4:00 PM • During the summer programs, we provide staff supervised breaks between programs if your children are enrolled in consecutive (AM+PM) programs. • Sack lunches, snacks, must be provided from home. A refrigerator and a microwave is available for students to use. • The Guild provides a daily sign-in and sign-out form in the classroom. Please leave the best number to reach a parent or caregiver directly each day when signing in. If your child will be dropped off or picked up by someone other than yourself, please notify us in writing (email preferred) and also write their name and phone number on the sign-in sheet in the notes section.
